The platform held a national youth consultation on enhancing youth engagement in the implementation of NDC in Somalia. The objective of the consultation was to facilitate nationwide youth consultations on NDC implementation and exchange of ideas and to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration between, youth organizations, government institutions, private sector, and UN agencies. The sessions commenced with an informative presentation on Somalia’s NDC goals and targets, emphasizing the critical role of youth in driving innovation, technology, and resilience-building efforts.
The importance of gender inclusivity and equity in climate action, as well as the collaboration opportunities for youth organizations with government agencies, NGOs, private sectors, and UN agencies was highlighted. Key sectors identified for youth involvement include energy, agriculture, water resources, and disaster management. The discussions resulted in action plans for youth to actively participate in NDC implementation and contribute to Somalia’s climate resilience.
