In close collaboration with the UNDP HQ team, the platform facilitated the participation of one youth delegate in the Climate, Peace, and Security Expert Academy held in Nairobi from October 15th to 17th, 2024. The seventh iteration of the Academy brought together young professionals, the next generation of international public sector leaders, from diverse sectors, countries, and regions. It focused on strengthening the capacities of young professionals from highly climate-vulnerable, fragile, and/or conflict-affected settings. The discussions centered on youth-inclusive climate policy for peace, climate finance for peace, youth-sensitive conflict prevention and peacebuilding approaches, and emerging climate issues. Somalia presented a case study on its Youth, Peace, and Security National Action Plan. The youth delegate also participated in panel discussions titled “Operationalizing Climate, Peace & Security — Reflections from Young Climate and Peacebuilding Leaders.” that focused on exchanging insights on emerging best practices, policy innovations, and finance solutions that center youth in the climate, peace and security agenda.
