SOMALIA YOUTH CLIMATE

With support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) organized a two-day training session on Disaster Preparedness and Early Warning Systems for the Disaster Volunteers Network under the Youth Climate Platform from April 28th to April 29th 2024, in Mogadishu. The primary objective of this training was to enhance community resilience by empowering the disaster volunteers’ network with essential knowledge and skills for effective disaster response.

The training program focused on core areas of disaster management, early warning dissemination, and community mobilization. A total of 32 participants (21 male and 11 female) from volunteer networks in Mogadishu attended the training. Through practical skills development and knowledge enhancement, the volunteer network’s capacity was strengthened to proactively respond to disasters and provide support to vulnerable communities.
