The platform supported the first Somalia Local Conference of Youth (LCOY), held in Mogadishu from 27th to 28 August 2024, marking a significant milestone in the country’s climate advocacy efforts. The historic conference saw over 200 youth delegates across the country actively participating in discussions, and consultations, culminating in the adoption of the Somali Youth National Statement on Climate Change. The conference was followed by Post-LCOY workshop: Validation of the LCOY Somalia Youth National Statement and Road to COP29 participated by 100 youth delegates in which the National Youth Statement was unanimously validated and was launched as part of Somali youth contributions to Global Youth Statement at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
