The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11-22, 2024. This global event gathered world leaders, policymakers, and key stakeholders to discuss and advance international climate action, focusing on adaptation, mitigation, and building climate resilience. For the third time, the platform supported youth delegations (2 male and 2 female) from Somalia to participate in COP29, contributing to important discussions and showcasing their leadership in addressing the unique climate challenges faced by their local communities. The youth delegate led three side events on the following topics: “LCOY National Youth Statement and Somali Youth in the Global Climate Agenda,” “Youth, Peace, and Security,” and “Green Skills and Jobs: Building a Climate-Resilient Future for Somalia.” Additionally, the delegate participated in several panel discussions, contributing to the global climate action discourse.
